Dear Unifor members in Western Canada,
I’m writing to wish you the very best over the holidays. The pandemic has made conditions as difficult as they’ve been in generations, and I know it has been a real struggle for so many of you.
It’s in these times that we need our governments most, because they are in the best position to use our collective wealth to minimize the impact of an economic downturn.
And more importantly, keep us safe.
Unfortunately, many politicians in Western Canada proved a disappointment, even when expectations were already low.
But where politicians failed, workers stepped up and got the job done.
Frontline workers showed us the meaning of courage and resilience. We thank them from the bottom of our heart.
Once again, unions served a vital role standing up for workplace rights as we fought for what all workers deserve: fair pay and a safe workplace.
I pledge that—together—we are going to keep up this important struggle in the year ahead.
From my family to yours, have a safe and restful holiday season.
